THE STORY BEHIND: MARRIAGE (PART 2)

POLYGYNY

Polygyny would also be the solution in redeeming most of the first world's influence upon the sex culture; devaluing covenant intimacy into a recreational pastime leading to perversion. The purpose for intercourse was to pro-create, we are surrogates for the Creator of heaven and earth. We need to give thanks that He provided a pleasurable experience, axiomatic with intercourse, as an incentive to carry out His will. The pursuit for the pleasurable experience should not be at the expense of "pro-creating."

In my experience in East Africa, I've learned that before the encroachment of colonialism's legislation of monogamy (to control population growth), and its Euro-Western ideologies, there was no reigning perversion, no prostitutes, no single parented homes, no street children, or homeless individuals. Morality was a highly valued principle stemming from a healthy fear of the Creator, and held to account by the community.

I found that polygyny was and is legal in most countries of South America, Islands of the Sea, Africa, and the Middle East. But it has taken a back seat to the legislation of monogamy (population control), given the onslaught of Euro-Western influence. This legislation has resulted in societies with all the above dysfunctions that did not exist before."

And Powers created all that is in relationship to the man in His image; in an image of Powers He created him; male and female He created them" (In Beginnings Gen. 1:27).

  • Male - Zakar: Remembering; bearer of tradition; pass down family history
  • Female - Niqeivah: Perforate; set firmly; deciding; designated one
  • Image - Tsalam: Covering outer form; shadow of an original; stately appearance
The institution of marriage is not an entity of itself; it is the relationship between a male and a female in a blood covenant that holds each responsible to their function; the man to cover and serve his woman, or women, that she become the excellence of his perfection in Yahweh; the woman to receive and respond in a manner for him to reach that perfection. Ultimately, to bring forth and raise up seeds of powers (children) (Mal 2:15), to reflect an image and likeness that brings content and value to Yahweh of Powers, our Creator, while continuing the pro-creative mandate in each generation until the earth is filled/subdued. We are His surrogates!

For men, Proverbs 24:27 is in the imperative state, a command: "Establish in the outside, your work, and make it ready in the field (productive) for you, and afterward, you will build your house." Animals, plants, vegetables, and trees do not reproduce until they are mature!

Hebrew men had some maturity at the point of fulfilling that imperative between 30 and 40 years of age. Actually, 40 years marks the emotional and physically mature male. By that age he should have been moulded and shaped to reflect his Creator, then he can be entrusted with a prudent woman of YHWH (Pro. 19:14). By providing spiritual cover and service to her, he ensures that she will become the excellence of his reflection of YHWH.

A young virgin becomes a woman when she begins ovulating; she is now ready to conceive (12-15 yrs); at which time she would be given in marriage. Having been raised domestically to be a home-maker, it crowns her intrinsic ability to mother (amam - be dependent; giving physical and spiritual life; tribe; people). She moves from being a reflection of her father’s identity/cover, and transitions to reflect that of her husband; there is no point in her life where she is to be left uncovered. Women who are not covered (having no male authority or voice in their life) are considered widows. YHWH commands throughout all of scripture that widows and orphans be taken care of, as in, be re-absorbed into family life.In the marriage covenant the young virgin would not only find a satisfying of her awakening desires, but also identity, purpose, security, and the highest fulfilment of humanity; the love of a man and a woman. As she continues to grow and develop, the man would enjoy her blossoming and maturation, all the while partnering with YHWH’s process of moulding and shaping her to become eishet chayil, a woman of virtue, concentrating her resources to enable him in his calling i.e. being fruitful and multiplying; filling the earth and subduing it.

OBSERVATION: Creation confirms our purpose! Our reproductive cycles reflect the sun and moon resulting in the stars.

Man is likened to the sun, the greater light, which comes back around every 24hrs. His reproductive cycle returns to potency 24hrs after depositing his seed into his woman, every day of his life.

Woman is likened to the moon, the lesser light but greater than the stars, which is full every 28-30 days. One day of each month it is none-existent. The woman's body yearns to receive seed every month once she begins to ovulate, for reproductive purposes, for about 45yrs. After that, her reproductive capability becomes non-existent.

Children are likened to the stars, myriads of little lights that contribute to breaking up the darkness of the night. We are commanded to fill the earth and subdue it by having as many children as the stars in multitude. Stars move together annually around the face of the earth in a fixed position. Women can only birth once a year, if you take a picture of the star pattern the night of a child's birth, upon celebrating the child's birthday a year later, you will see the same star pattern in the night sky.

This begs the question, since a man has been designed to reproduce until his death and a woman not so, what is he to do based upon his purpose of design?

The answer is an obvious one according to the Scripture. And the next question would be whether he is willing to obey.

Shalom.
